More of our Mental Health Support Service villas recently had a mini-makeover thanks to our BHP partnership.
After the BHP Petroleum team upgraded the exterior of our South Perth villas with some bright paint and new garden beds, the BHP Iron Ore team put up their hands to head out to our Sunflower Villas in Osborne Park to mulch and tidy the front and rear gardens of 16 homes.
One resident was extremely happy with the end result: “it looks so much better. The gardens look a lot neater and will be easier to maintain”.
The 39 volunteers and a few St Bart’s residents spent half a day cutting back trees and bushes, removing weeds, raking leaves and layering all of the garden beds using a mountain of mulch donated by All Trees Perth.
BHP project engineer Simon Harris said they “got to see firsthand what St Bart’s does to work toward eliminating homelessness in our community”.
“It was awesome to be able to contribute to their vision, even in a small way,” he said. “It was great looking up to see everyone enjoying themselves and getting stuck in – and so satisfying to know we were working for a such great cause!”
