Case Worker

Are you passionate about supporting people? We are looking for a Case Worker to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract, to support our consumers accessing our Reset program.

About Us

Since 1963, St Bart’s has been standing by the side of Western Australians experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, trauma and hardship.

When we first started, St Bart’s was a small homeless shelter for men, we are now providing support to more than 530 vulnerable people through a range of services including aged care and transitional accommodation.

Our goal is to provide safe, supported accommodation and services to people who need it the most, regardless of background, age, gender or ethnicity. We value our people – employees, volunteers, partners and stakeholders and we appreciate the contribution they make to the lives of our consumers.

About the role

The Rest program is part of a Metropolitan wide partnership offering reintegration services to offenders and their families.

As the Case Worker, you will work closely and intensively to support those who are exiting custodial settings to access housing, and work with their families to promote positive community reintegration.

Reporting to the Reconnecting Lives Manager, you will also support in reducing the rates of reoffending and increasing public safety.

Taking into consideration the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful applicant the salary offered for this position spans from $74,179.04 to $79,810.64 plus 10% superannuation.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need a tertiary qualification in Social Science, Community Services or similar discipline together with relevant demonstrated work experience, as well as being able to gain a Department of Justice clearance and Working With Children Check.

In addition, our ideal candidate has:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with consumers, their families, and other networks.
  • Well-developed assessment and planning skills with the ability to adapt to change.

While your skills and experience are important to us, your values and attitudes are also crucial to your success at St Bart’s. We are looking for a candidate who is compassionate and feels aligned with the St Bart’s values of Empowerment, Innovation, Commitment, Collaboration and Social Justice who can help us with our goal of creating and maintaining a workplace that fosters inclusion, diversity and a commitment to excellence.

As we work with vulnerable people, the successful candidate will be required to show proof of influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations unless a medical exemption is provided. The successful candidate must also possess a current National Police Clearance and a current WA “C” class drivers licence and a valid First Aid Certificate.

Why join St Bart’s?

In addition to joining a professional and dedicated team with passion and commitment to our values and making a difference within the community, the benefits of working with us are:

  • Four weeks annual leave with the opportunity to purchase additional leave
  • Up to three days additional flexible leave days per year
  • Salary packaging up to $15,900 as available to Not for Profit organisations
