St Bart’s has received a grant of $769,353 through the McGowan Government’s Social Housing Economic Recovery Package (SHERP) to refurbish some of our residential dwellings across Perth.

Our housing properties that will undergo refurbishments include our Future Homes Program and Community Housing units at our Lime Street, East Perth headquarters, Community Recovery Villages in Kelmscott and Middle Swan and our accommodation unit in Midland. Works that will be completed include flooring replacements or upgrades, painting, tiling, glazing and plaster work.

“The refurbishments will upgrade the properties benefiting from the works and help extend their useful lives as much needed social housing dwellings,” St Bart’s Chief Executive Officer Samantha Drury said.

“We extend our thanks to the McGowan Government and the Department of Communities for their support.”

Refurbishments will be completed by the end of 2024.

Announced in June 2020, SHERP is a $319 million housing stimulus package provided through the Department of Communities that is designed to provide new and refurbished community housing for hundreds of WA’s most vulnerable people. The refurbishments grant round saw more than $57 million provided to 47 West Australian community housing providers to upgrade existing homes. A grant round focused on the delivery of new social housing is currently being finalised by the Department of Communities.

St Bart’s SHERP funding success follows the announcement earlier this month that our Lime Street head office would undergo significant refurbishments that aim to enhance wellbeing outcomes for our stakeholders and foster a sense of community through the creation of new shared social and work spaces and engagement areas.
