Community Housing
St Bart’s is a supportive landlord and offers affordable and secure community housing options. The community housing we operate is in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act 1987 through our Community Housing and Independent Living Programs.
This is affordable housing for low income earners. We have 69 Community Housing properties across the Perth metropolitan area and 54 of those are single bed units located at St Bart’s main premises in Lime Street East Perth.
Who is eligible?
- You must meet the Department of Communities/Housing eligibility criteria.
- Applicants must be listed on the Department of Communities/Housing – Joint Wait List.
- When available, vacancies are sourced from the Joint Wait List.
- Rent is calculated based on the household income and reviewed annually.
- Tenants must remain eligible for community housing throughout their tenancy.
Independent Living Program
ILP provides low cost accommodation for adults with severe and persistent mental health challenges. St Bart’s has 75 Independent Living Program properties located within the Bentley Health Service catchment area. The majority of the properties are one bedroom with 11 properties suitable for families.
Who is eligible?
- You must meet the Department of Communities/Housing eligibility criteria.
- This accommodation is for people aged 18 – 65 years.
- To be eligible you must have a diagnosis of a severe and persistent psychiatric illness that affects your ability to maintain stable accommodation and requires the services of a supportive landlord.
- You must be receiving clinical support provided by the public mental health system, GP or private psychiatrist.
- You must be able to live independently in the community with minimal supports (provided by support agencies).
- Rent is calculated based on the household income and reviewed annually.
- Tenants must remain eligible for community housing throughout their tenancy.
