Support Worker

About the role

The Support Worker plays a vital role in supporting elderly people to actively participate in activities that maintain their independence, ensuring they can stay at home for as long as possible. Through a person centred, empathetic approach this role provides social support, personal care and support our consumers with domestic duties.

Reporting to the Team Leader Home Care, this role will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality home care service. This role assists with personal care including showering, grooming, mobility assistance and medication assistance, ensuring our consumers retain their dignity and independence.

Taking into consideration the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful applicant the base salary offered for this position spans from $36.40 to $39.71 per hour including casual loading, plus superannuation and penalty rates.

About you

You are a caring person, passionate about motivating and empowering elderly people to maintain their independence and quality of life. You take pride in all aspects of your work, providing domestic assistance, social support and encouraging community participation.

With your excellent interpersonal skills, you empathise and relate with a diverse range of clients, their families, and networks. You genuinely care about elderly people, committed to supporting them to stay in their home and community for as long as possible.

Ideally, you will have experience working independently, providing care to elderly people within home and community settings. You will also be familiar with care plans, and preparing high-quality, compliant care documentation.

As we work with vulnerable people, the successful candidate will be required to show proof of influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations (unless a medical exemption is provided), and a current National Police Clearance. This role will require the successful candidate to have a reliable, roadworthy car, a current “C” class drivers’ licence, and motor vehicle insurance for business usage upon appointment.
